Did you know that there are many types of allergies that people
experience? Some people have obvious allergic reactions while others do
not know that they are allergic to certain substances because there are
almost no symptoms visible. Some people experience irritations from
allergens in food while others experience irritation from allergens in
the air. Below are some of the most common allergies according to
studies.
- Anaphylaxis. This is an allergy that causes the body to become too sensitive with certain substances. The case can be severe as it can lead to shortness of breath and even death if the reaction lasts a long time. Most of the things that cause this allergy are antibiotics and insect stings. There are also foods that can cause anaphylaxis such as peanuts and shellfish. It is very important to recognize this at once. Some other symptoms include chest tightness, palpitations and nausea.
- Allergic rhinitis. This is often triggered by dust and other fine particles in the air. Some people experience this allergy from pollens and call it hay fever. Others blame pets such as cats and dogs for their allergic rhinitis. Pollution or dirty air can also cause this condition. The best way to prevent it is by protecting the nose and the eyes from allergens in the air. Histamines will also be helpful to keep the reactions at bay. Some other symptoms include runny nose, watery eyes and sneezing.
- Asthma. Asthma is usually chronic in nature. This means that it lasts for a long time. Children who have this condition are likely to still have it even when they grow old. Asthma can be very dangerous because it directly affects the respiratory system particularly the lungs and the airways. Allergic reactions can be triggered by smoke, pollen, dust and fur. Some symptoms that can give you a hint for serious reactions include breathlessness, dry cough and chest tightness. Nebulizers and other breathing apparatuses can help relieve the condition when the allergy is triggered.
- Eczema. This is a type of skin allergy. This is a condition where the skin becomes red and dry. In many cases, the skin peels off because of the dryness. This is the reason why some people refer to this as flaky skin condition. The rash can be both very itchy and painful therefore it is very important to treat it immediately. There are topical medications that you can request from your doctor. Antihistamines are also advisable to relieve the itchiness.
